Is courage inside of you?
Courage is defined in the dictionary as, the quality of mind or spirit that
enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc…to act in accordance
with one’s beliefs, especially in spite of criticism.
Many people believe that courage only comes in the form of a strong and great heroic figure, like a firefighter, police officer, or military official. Quite the contrary, courage comes in all shapes and sizes:
- The civil rights activist who stands up for their beliefs and human rights.
- Victims of crime who testify in court against the criminal who victimized them.
- Medical care workers who treat cancer or other terminally ill patients.
- People who volunteer for neighborhood watch programs to try to reduce and prevent crimes in their neighborhood.
- A kid in school who stands up for a classmate who is being bullied.
- The law student who fails the bar exam and has to take it for the second time.
Courage doesn’t always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day saying,
“I will try again tomorrow.”
